Optek Develops Miniature Infrared Surface Mount Reflective Object Sensor
Providing design engineers with an economical device for non-contact sensing applications, TT electronics OPTEK Technology has developed a new reflective object sensor in a miniature surface mount package. Designated the OPB733TR device, the infrared sensor uses a lensed IR LED and phototransistor elements to collimate the light beam, giving the device an optimizing detection range from 0.4 (10mm) to 1.0 (25.4mm). In addition, the minimum photo...

Photo IC Replacement for Photo-conductive Cells from Hamamatsu Photonics
Hamamatsu Photonics has introduced a linear output Photo IC, the S10604 to replace traditional CdS photoconductive cells (also known as LDRs), which have been used for many years in visible light sensor products. The use of cadmium in electronic equipment is now restricted under European RoHS legislation, so the alternative S10604 photo IC is fabricated from silicon and is fully compliant with all RoHS regulations.

Spectral Color Measurements with JENCOLOR
MAZeT's RGB and True Color sensors are semiconductor-based sensors with RGB or XYZ interference filters for fast, time-stable color detection and absolute color measurement according to the CIE1931 DIN5033 standard. When combined with white-light LEDs, these sensors can detect accuracies in the color space that are imperceptible to the human eye. The achieved accuracy strongly depends on the light source and the calibration of the sensors.
