Virtual Reality UK Festival makes debut in London
Virtual Reality UK, a two-day festival that explores the creative and technological potential of virtual reality, makes its debut this year with an exciting and ambitious programme. Brought to you by Ravensbourne, the London-based University sector college, in partnership with Virtual Umbrella, the event will be held on 10th-11th February at its campus on the Greenwich Peninsula.
VRUK will showcase the most innovative projects within this fast growing sector, with talks from the world’s most leading virtual reality creators and the latest in technology.
VRUK focuses on bringing together content creators from across the Creative Industries to discover the endless possibilities of interactive storytelling. Immerse yourself in the harrowing true story of a homeless, gender-queer VR developer in the interactive virtual reality experience 'My name is Te' by Blaze VR, or experience the hilariously odd tale of 'The man stuck up his own arse' by Rubber Republic & Place Nicely.
The two-day event will host the latest technologies and allow you to experience new filmmaking and gaming projects in the aptly named ‘Immersion Zone’. Sit front row at a Strictly Come Dancing Show with Rewind Co’s Strictly 360. Take a peek into the future of cinema through a VR experience of hit film ‘The Martian’ courtesy of The Third Floor.
Hosting the most talented and creative innovators in VR, VRUK is the suitable platform to discuss the promising future of virtual reality and hear from the world-leading experts on the latest technology developments. Talks from leading VR experts include Karl Woolley (Framestore), Sol Rogers (Rewind), Sarah Jones (360 Immersive Lab), Nick Pittom (Fire Panda), Dean Johnson (Brandwidth Group) and Matt Ratcliffe (Masters of Pie).
If you’re feeling a little more adventurous, join Hammerhead VR to soar through the middle of a thunderstorm; witness an alien invasion with The Mill or peril across new worlds with Windlands by Psytec Games. VRUK will ensure you go on an experience so immersive you’ll be left disappointed once you’ve finally come back to reality.
